I love finding craft ideas or art projects that are easy to put together for the kids. Nothing makes me drag my feet more than when the kids want to do a project that requires a ton of set up, a ton of mess or a ton of money. Really, the less effort and money the better! These painted leaves are an Easy Halloween Craft for kids and perfect for a “grab and go” fun for the afternoon. These would make a great Classroom Party activity as they cost almost nothing and are really fun to make and super cute to take home! For more Halloween Classroom Party ideas check out the post HERE.
How to make these Painted Halloween Leaves | Easy Halloween Craft for Kids
What you need:
- Fall Leaves
- Black Paint
- White Paint
- Paint Brush
- Black Sharpie Pen | White Paint Pen
To make into a garland
- Ribbon or Twine
- Hot Glue Gun
To start you need to collect some fall leaves. My kids love searching outside for the prettiest autumn leaves. Have them go on a hunt for a stash of fallen leaves to paint.
With a paint brush they can turn their leaf into a ghost by painting it white or a bat by painting it black. Add a face and you are done.
I told you this craft was easy!
Instead of having a pile of painted leaves on the counter I decided to display them. They were too cute not to have them hanging on display. I made a garland with the leaves by hot gluing them onto some twine. I added in some of the gold leaves from the backyard that they picked for a splash of color. To hang, I cut a command strip into small pieces and gently pressed them onto a few of the leaves. Then stuck the leaf straight to the wall. I hung the garland over the kitchen window so we can enjoy their masterpieces through Halloween.
