The Holiday hustle has come to an end and we are left with stacks of new toys, clothes and gadgets. The week between Christmas and New Years is spent enjoy the family. But once January 1st arrives I get the itch to get things back to normal. This can be very overwhelming with the influx of “stuff” you have to put away. Especially with the kids things. Here are some of my favorite Organization Tips for Kids.

As my mom used to say when I was a little “Everything has a home.” Here are some of my organization tips for kids.
Hanging Storage
My favorite trick for de cluttering a room is getting things off the floor! Even a cute basket on the floor holding stuffed animals can make a room feel cluttered. But if you hang the basket on the wall, the room instantly looks clean. Command Hooks are your friends! In Duncan’s nursery we hung two small baskets above the changing table using command hooks. I keep extra blankets and some small toys and stuffed animals to keep him occupied during diaper changes. Cute and functional!
Closet Storage
I also love using hanging storage for in the girls closet to store all their clothes. The girls had trouble opening and closing heavy drawers of a dresser. And a piece of furniture takes up a lot of space. The small compartments in the hanging storage are light weight and easy for them to slide in and out. I labeled each bin so they know where to find their things. The hanging storage is narrow and fits perfectly in their closet. I have one hanging on each side of closet, one for each girl.
Book Storage for Kids
Another item we love in our house are books. Books can be tricky to store. I have found my favorite solution is the 3-tiered shelf we use in Duncan’s nursery. All the baby and board books fit perfectly on the shelf and I put larger books on the top. Its perfect for him because it allows him to see them all and he can grab them as he pleases. It’s like he has his own personal library.
Art Storage
Lastly, my girls love coloring. It’s their favorite activity these days. And I have all the artwork to prove it. We use a lazy susan caddy to hold and separate all their pens, markers and crayons. This works really well because they can easily find the color they are looking for and its pretty to look at. I love having their color table displayed.
