There are two things I love doing… 1. Baking Sourdough and 2. Giving Gifts.
Both are joys I can’t express in words. When I was asked to bake sourdough loaves for teachers at our school I gladly accepted. I had to make 7 loaves for 7 teachers. I had never made that many before, but I was totally up for the challenge. Since I was used to making my normal 2 loaves, I decided to double the batch and make 8 loaves in 2 days.

I love the idea of gifting bread to someone. It is the most simple but beautiful gift you can give. The thought of giving something they can take home and enjoy with their family, makes my heart so happy!
The sourdough loaves are gorgeous all by themselves, but I couldn’t help myself and had to add a little bit of WHIM.
Here is How to Gift a Sourdough Bread Loaf
- First, I rolled out a long piece of brown parchment paper
- Fold the bottom edge up halfway and then fold the top edge to meet in the center.
- Place your Sourdough loaf in the middle.
- Pull up the ends to meet in the middle. This will wrap around your bread.
- Fold the ends until the parchment paper is tight around your loaf.
- Secure with a long piece of twine or string.
- Attach a gift tag. I used the ones HERE and they were such a beautiful touch.
- Finally, I slipped a rose through the hole of the gift tag for that little extra WHIM. You could do some greenery or a sprig of rosemary too.
These turned out so beautiful it almost made me cry. You can see the video tutorial of these steps on my Instagram page. When I went to drop them off to the teachers everyone went wild over them. I received the nicest thank you notes.
Are you wondering what I did with that extra loaf of bread I had left?
I decided to treat the ladies at the front office. It felt cruel to walk into the school with fresh loaves of bread and not have something for them. They deserve gifts too! For the front office I made up a “picnic” tray. I took the remaining loaf and sliced it thin. Then I wrapped it just like the others. On the tray I added a small bowl for butter and a jar of apricot jam. A few napkins and knives and a couple roses and ta-da! The ladies at the front office devoured their treat!
