Ship Lap is probably the most popular home decor trend right now than anything else, and rightfully so. Thank you Chip and JoJo for showing us the light! My husband and I have lived in our home for 5 years and the front room right when you walk in the door has always been a mismatched, BLAH styled room. I saw the idea to add DIY Ship Lap to the walls when I was 5 months pregnant, and thanks to early nesting I told him I really wanted to add ship lap to the walls.

How to Add Ship Lap
This was by far one of the easiest projects we have ever done.
I went to Home Depot and purchased 1/4 inch plywood and politely asked for them to rip the boards 8 1/4 inch strips.
We attached the boards to the wall using an electric nail gun which I highly recommend. Popsicle sticks were how we made perfect spaces between each board.
When we were all done with the boards we added trim to give it a finished look and clean up the edges. We then spackled the holes, primed the wall and added a few coats of paint.
Its amazing how something as simple and easy as ship lap can completely transform your room. The before and after pictures are night and day differences. We LOVE sitting and hanging out in this room now.
