Okay, I’m a Homeschool “Room Mom” this year. But with it being our first-year homeschooling, there was no way I was going to let my kids miss out on the classroom valentine’s party. My girls had gone through a few years at a local school, so they knew all about passing out Valentine’s to their friends for Valentine’s Day. They (and me) would have been heartbroken (no pun intended) if they realized they had missed out on the tradition. So, in Project Whim fashion we decided to throw an epic Valentine’s Day party for all our new homeschool friends and it ended up being the sweetest party ever! Take these ideas and be the best Room Mom in town for the Classroom Valentine’s Day Party!

Decorating the Classroom
Decorations for a Classroom Party can be very simple. Like this dollar store Valentine garland and balloon kit. Can you believe I snagged these at the dollar store? I hung a few strands of paper hearts and then added a small balloon garland above it. The heart shaped balloons were really cute (but beware they pop really easily) and the kids got a kick out of the confetti balloons.
I set out some flowers and adorned them with my favorite Valentine’s Day Pennant Flags. These flags are so cute and can be used for so many things. Just print them off at home and attach to a wooden dowel.
Party Food for a Classroom Valentine’s Party
One of my favorite party foods for kids is popcorn and fruit. Mainly because you don’t have to worry about allergies. Luckily, there are some really great allergy free valentine foods available (see below for links).
I took some mini cups and filled them with fruit and the kids went wild. The best part was I could prefill the cups ahead of time (which makes set up super easy). I also had some Yum Earth Treats which are allergy free fruit snacks and lollipops (and the kids actually love them). I grabbed a tray of chick-fil-a nuggets because who doesn’t love that? Finally, I displayed a giant Valentine’s Day snack board for the moms. And then I made my favorite “Love Bug” apps. We made these at Tessa’s Garden Birthday Party and they were such a hit. I thought they would be perfect for Valentine’s Day too.

DIY Candy Free Valentines
You can’t forget the Valentine’s for the party. Here are two really fun candy free DIY Valentine Ideas. I didn’t realize how excited kids would get over the zipper fidget bracelets but they were the hit of the valentine exchange. You can read all about the Zip Zip Hooray Valentines HERE and the Valentine You’re All Write Valentines HERE.
Don’t forget bags! I supplied some cute valentine themed paper bags that the kids could collect all their valentines in. I’m so glad I did this because some of the kids didn’t have anything to bring their goodies home in.
Craft Time | Easy DIYs for a Classroom Valentine’s Day Party
I hit the easy button when it came to a Valentine’s Day craft. I bought a kit of themed craft supplies, threw them on the table and let the kids have a field day. It actually worked out great. The kids took to it, and each made their own valentine creation. It was really fun to see how creative the kids were with no direction. I highly recommend this approach if you are either short on time or creativity. The kids will do all the heavy lifting, I promise!
Another favorite idea I always share are giant color sheets. You can roll out a giant Valentine’s day color sheet for the classroom and watch the kids all pitch in. I love the emoji themed one for Valentine’s day. These are AMAZING for group of kids and a really simple and mess free (YAY) activity for a classroom party!
Last but not least, don’t forget your teachers!
Don’t forget your teachers! I gave these adorable plant babies to the moms attending our party. These would be perfect gifts for your teachers. I snagged some mini house plants and added these cute “punny” plant valentine cards. Just print on cardstock and glue or tape onto a toothpick or bamboo skewer. You instantly have a cute and customized gift for your favorite teacher. Ta-Da!
