When I volunteered to be Room Mom for my girl’s classroom, I didn’t realize how much fun it would be for the holidays. I searched all over Pinterest for ideas that were fun but simple for young kids. Here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate Christmas in the classroom. Keep scrolling for links to everything you need to recreate these fun ideas.

Classroom Game | Poke A Pine Tree
Poke A Pine Tree is a really simple game for little ones, and even more simple to put together. Here is what you need.
- 1 large poster board or project board
- Solo Cups
- Green Tissue Paper or Napkins
- Rubber bands
- Small Treats and Toys
- Construction Paper to decorate your board (optional)
To make your game, hot glue your solo cups on the board in the shape of your pine tree. Make sure you have at least 1 cup for each kid. Fill the cups with small treats and toys. I did little hand stamps, Christmas bracelets, candy canes, etc. When you finish filling your cups, place a piece of tissue paper over the cup and secure with a rubber band. You can decorate your board if you want too as well.
When it’s time to play the game, the kids line up and take turns poking/punching through 1 cup and they get the prizes inside. Super simple and the kids had so much fun!
Decorating the Classroom
You can’t have a party without some decorations. I used a bunch of Holiday Decor that I had at the house to decorate for their party but the dollar store and amazon are great places to stock up on fun decor for the class. I hung a Christmas banner on the classroom door that looked like a tree with presents underneath. I made a large sign out of a used cardboard gift paper roll. I cut rectangles out of colorful cardstock and wrote cute things like “North Pole”, “WhoVille”, “Elf Village” and “The Teachers Classroom”. Inside the classroom I wrapped the kids desks to look like presents! All you need are inexpensive tablecloths and some thick ribbon. You can use solid tablecloths in red and green like what I did, or a cute Christmas patten tablecloth. Tape the tablecloth to the bottom side of the desk and then wrap and tie a bow to the top of the desk. The classroom looked so cute with all the tables wrapped and the kids LOVED this!
Party Food for a Classroom Christmas Party
One of my favorite and INCEDIBLY easy food crafts for kids is making wreathes or snowflakes out of pretzels. Its minimal sugar (so a win for the parents and teachers) and really easy set up for the Room Mom. Each child gets a cup full of pretzels and a small bowl of melted candy melts (you can do any color). Pass around the sprinkles and they can build their own wreaths. Once it is dry you can slip them in a bag and they can take them home!

Craft Time | Easy DIY activity for a Classroom Holiday Party
My all time favorite activity for little kids are giant color sheets. You can roll them out or tape them onto your white board and watch the kids go to town! These giant Christmas color sheets entertain the kids FOREVER! The I spy ones would be fun to do teams and make a game of it. Whichever team finds all the items in the giant color sheet wins a prize! It is a great team building activity that is mess and hassle free! Here are some of my favorite!
