At the start of every school year I always throw the kids a fun breakfast. It has turned into a fun little tradition for us. It’s also fun for me to recreate and rethink how to do our First Day of School Breakfast for the kids. This past year we have become BIG FANS for snack boards. I make one at least once a week (at the request of the littles). So I decided to reimagine our tradition and turn it into a Back to School Breakfast Board this Year.

How to Build a Back to School Breakfast Snack Board
Snack Boards are so easy to put together. I grab our favorite wood cutting board and start piling high with all kinds of goodies. I usually buy the mini donuts for the kids to celebrate the first day of school. This is a special treat for them, as I don’t usually buy them any other time of the year.
Start building your Breakfast Board.
This time I started right in the middle with a cup overflowing with blueberries.
I took hard boiled eggs and cut them in half. Then laid them around the cup of blueberries so it would resemble a flower.
I then filled in the empty spaces around the flower with oranges, cut up strawberries, raspberries, and mini donuts.
On one corner I took a small vase that looks like a composition notebook (I found this in the Target Dollar Spot a few years ago and bought a ton to use for Teacher Gifts Throughout the Year) and stuck strips of cooked bacon inside.

Then the fun part… adding Back to School Magic! I’ve saved some fun items throughout the year, but the great part of celebrating the First Day of School is you can use all kinds of items around the house.
What you can use
- Number 2 Pencils
- Chalkboards
- Rulers
- Globe
- Jar of Apples
- Notebooks
- Old School Books
I displayed a cute mini chalkboard and wrote “Back to School” on it. And finished by adding the “cake topper” I made last year out of Classroom Pointers and some cut out card stock letters “ABC” and fun school themed ribbon.
Super simple and easy but full of all kinds of WHIM.
