This bathroom has been patiently waiting to be finished ever since I painted the linoleum floors in November. For the step by step of How to Paint Linoleum Floors click HERE . It never looked complete. The builder grade mirror and light fixture had hung its last day! It was time to make some small changes to the bathroom and finish this DIY Bathroom Remodel and complete the space.

How we Updated this Space
The first step was to remove the builder grade mirror, light fixture and medicine cabinet. There was a lot of anxiety about what awaited me when we took these items off the wall. I was sure that I was going to find holes and glue and who knows what else behind them. I was SO pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to remove (literally just took a few screws out) and to find a clean wall behind them. It actually made me kind of mad that we waited SO long to do this!
The next step was to fill the medicine cabinet hole. Rex attached two pieces of wood on the ends and then measured out drywall to fit perfectly over the hole. Then we were able to start our DIY Ship Lap for the walls.
For Ship Lap all you need are sheets of 1/4 inch plywood. You can have the hardware store rip the sheets for you to whatever width planks you would like. We had ours ripped to 8.25 inch strips. When it comes time to start adding them to the walls you will want to use a few Popsicle sticks for even spaces between the strips.
TIP: Make sure the wall you are attaching the wood planks too is the color you will be painting the wood planks so it all blends nicely.
Favorite Tools to Make this an Easier Project
Some of our favorite tools that make projects like this A LOT more stress free are the Contour Gauge Jig that easily and quickly measures around corners of trim so you get a perfect fit every time! It’s the best $8 you will ever spend…TRUST ME!
We also LOVE using our Ryobi electric nail gun. No cords or compressor getting in the way and I find that I’m more willing to grab the gun and help when there isn’t a compressor involved, not sure why.
Last but not least, our Ryobi electric jig saw was something new we bought to help us with this project. Rex said it was the nicest jig saw he had ever used (that is saying a lot) and we used it to cut boards to the correct length of the wall and to cut around those pesky trim corners. If you decide on either of these electric tools you will need to get the battery and charger which you can find HERE.
The Final Steps
Once we got all the planks up on the wall we added trim to the corners and the ceiling to finish it off. We then primed all the wood and applied 2 coats of paint. I used Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee, this is my go-to white color.
When that had dried it was time to hang! I hung a new mirror that I got from Target and a modern light fixture I found on Wayfair, along with some cute new pictures and shelves I found from Target. I’m so happy with how it turned out.
Here is the Final Transformation
Some of my favorite little details was the hanging plant I added by the window. The Wash Your Hands Sign and the Remember to Flush Sign.
I love all the new artwork I added like the Be You Canvas and the adorable clock which was a HomeGoods Find. It’s hard for me to add color to a room sometimes because I love neutrals but I think I have the perfect balance in this bathroom.

Perfection!
Are the plants real are fake? Love them!!! Been wanting to find some for my home but just can’t find good fake ones, and worries I’ll kill the real ones lol.
The plants are fake! I am the same way, these are all from Target. I feel like they have a good selection of realistic looking plants.
Was wondering where did you get the cute black wire shelf?
I found that at Hobby Lobby!
