Garlands are my love language. If you have followed along with me for a while, you know I use to design and create for my own business making garlands and kids decor. When I was decorating my son’s nursery room for Christmas, I stood back and noticed something was missing from the room. There was an empty spot that looked blank, and I knew that a garland would be the answer to fill the space and bring some Christmas WHIM.

How to make your Snowflake Garland
First Step is to gather your supplies. Here is what you need.
- Wooden Snowflake Ornaments in various sizes (You can find these at Hobby Lobby or Michaels)
- Felt Pom Poms in the colors that coordinate in your room.
- String. I used some embroidery thread I had on hand but you could use any kind of thin string.
- Needle.
- Scissors
I first started out by laying out all my Snowflakes in the order I wanted them to be displayed. I mixed up the sizes in no particular order because I wanted a Bohemian/ Whimsical type look.
I then measured out my string to the length I wanted for the space I was going to put the garland.
I threaded my needle and started adding the poms and snowflakes. For a whimsical look I never use a pattern for the color of poms. I prefer the look of the colors being random. You can do it however you like, or do one solid color.
When you get to a part where you want to add the snowflake, make sure you go through the ornament hole twice, threading around the ornament hole so your snowflake lays flat, otherwise your snowflake will fall sideways.
Continue threading your poms and snowflakes so you get the desired look you want.
When you are all done, sit back and look at the preciousness and hang.
See, that wasn’t so bad! If you decide to make a DIY snowflake garland, I’d love to see it in your space. Tag me on Instagram in your photos using #projectwhim
