Ready to get a little mud on your tires? We had a SMASHING good time at Duncan’s Monster Truck Birthday Party! For months he told me he wanted a Monster Truck Party, and honestly I was a little nervous to pull this one together. I’ve shared before that I always let my kids help plan their own birthday. We sit down and talk about what they want their party to be like. What theme/colors, what activities, favorites foods, etc. Duncan went on and on about his Monster Truck Party and I knew I would have to get creative. I knew NOTHING about Monster Trucks so this was going to be a learning curve for me.

This is how we set up the most adorable and FUN Monster Truck Party!
When I started collecting decorations for the party I didn’t realize that I would be given the greatest decor item of all time! Two weeks before the party I got a flat tire on my way to pick the kids up from school. I held onto the tire so we could use it for the party and it was the perfect addition. The kids got such a kick out of a REAL tire on the table. I placed it on the kitchen island and had balloons coming out from it.
For the food table I made a giant “X” balloon garland. We used blue and orange balloons (Duncan’s choice) and some black and white checkered balloons in the mix. Wondering how to make a balloon garland? You can check out my Highlight on Instagram where I share all my hacks for saving your sanity making a balloon garland.
I put a black and white checkered tablecloth on the table and on top I displayed a sign that read “SMASH Put A Little Mud on Your Tires”. You can download and print this cute sign at home by CLICKING HERE. Next to it I used a large metal crate where I placed his cake and a gold trophy. Some other cute decor items were the tire shaped cups we had displayed and the giant inflatable tires (keep reading to see how we used these for games too).
Monster Truck Party Food
The Birthday boy requested hot dogs which went perfectly with our party theme. We grilled up some hot dogs and made pasta salad. I put mini bags of chips in my wood crates and filled a drink bin full of Crush orange soda and waters. But my favorite thing on the table were the chocolate covered Oreo cookies that looked like tires. They were so cute and sooooo yummy!
Lastly, his monster truck birthday cake. I had the grocery store make a simple chocolate cake and asked them to add some crumbled up chocolate cake/ crushed cookies on the top to look like dirt. It was a pleasant surprised when I picked up the cake that they added in some ramps too. I placed a monster truck on top and ta-da…the perfect Monster Truck Cake for a little boy!
Monster Truck Party Games and Activities
The first thing we did when the kids arrived was pick out a monster truck tattoo. Then they all made their way to the backyard. We had beautiful weather which was so nice because we were able to spend the majority of the time outside. For the first game we played “Pin the Wheels on the Monster Truck”. I hung the poster on the fence and the kids all lined up. They took turns placing wheel stickers on the poster trying to get them in the right spot on the truck.
I also rolled out a giant Monster Truck Themed Color Sheet on the kids picnic table. We are obsessed with these because kids of all ages (and even the adults) get in on the fun! You just roll it out and set out some things to color with and people will come and go as they please! Its the perfect activity for keeping little ones busy!
The big hit of the party though was the giant inflatable tires. The kids were obsessed with these. They wrestled, they played “bumper cars” with them and we did relay races with them. They were totally entertained by the giant tires that they spent most of the party playing with them.
Monster Truck Party Favors
As a thank you to our friends for coming to our party I made the cutest party favors. I took clear glass jars and filled them with kinetic sand. I made cute labels for the jars that said “Thanks for a SMASHING good time” that I put on the jars. You can download and print these labels from home for your Monster Truck Party by clicking HERE. Just print on vinyl sticker paper and cut out. So easy and so cute! I grabbed some monster trucks from the dollar store and gave those with the jars of sand so the kids could play “Monster Trucks” at home.
We had such a great time at our Monster Truck Party. Our little man had so much fun playing with giant tires and his friends.
