Who doesn’t love riding around in the car looking at all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood? I know it is one of my all time favorite things to do. Why not add some WHIM to this totally Free and Fun Holiday Family Activity.
I wish I could take credit for this idea. A friend was telling me how they had a family tradition when driving around to look at the Holiday Lights. Instead of just jumping in the car, she made it the ultimate Christmas experience for her kids. All aboard the Christmas Light Express Tickets!
Each year they get in their Christmas jammies and as they pull back the covers to climb into bed, the kids discover a TICKET! They instantly know that they get to stay up late. So they grab their tickets and some hot chocolate (or a treat) and head toward the garage. Boarding their car like a train, they hand over the tickets and get snuggled up with their blankets. Such a fun and memorable way to cruise the neighborhood to admire all the Christmas lights.
When my friend told me this idea, I instantly fell in love (and told her I was stealing her idea). So I designed Christmas Light Express Tickets and this year we will start this tradition.
This would be a great way to do Elf on The Shelf one day. Holding his Christmas Light Express ticket!

The kids were shocked when we surprised them with these tickets and told them they could stay up late. I think their faces say it all! We had so much.
