One of my favorite things in the world is throwing birthday parties for my kids. I always let them choose what theme and ideas they want for their birthday each year. Food, Colors, Activities…the kids always get a say (and they always come up with THE BEST ideas). Well it was time for Evie’s 7th birthday and she was adamant on doing a pancake and pajama birthday party. She requested the colors pink, purple and blue. She also wanted to do a craft with her friends.
Since we aren’t yet comfortable hosting a huge sleepover party, I pitched the idea of a pajama and breakfast themed birthday party. My pancake loving girl was THRILLED! This was right up her alley. Decor for a Pancake and Pajama Party
Evie asked to have her color scheme be pink, purple and blue (all her favorite colors). So I went with pastel colors for her dreamy birthday party theme. We always do balloon garlands for the kids parties, because nothing says party like a million balloons. This time I had the idea to hang the balloons from the ceiling and place a low lying table on the floor underneath so everyone could sit on pillows for the party. I wanted it to seem super comfy and cozy. Kind of like sitting underneath a cloud.
We set up a few balloons by the food, including balloons that spelled out Pajamas and Pancakes. I didn’t realize until halfway through the party that the “J” in Pajama was backwards. Mom Fail….but good thing no one really noticed. We had pink flowers, a letterboard that read “Rise and Shine It’s Pancake Time” and pastel colored plates and napkins.
I downloaded and printed these cute Pancake/Sleepover Party themed printables. “Everything is Better in your Jammies”. Because no truer words have ever been spoken. Haha You can download the cute printable sign and gift tags by clicking HERE.
I Love You More Than Pancakes
Our Pancake and Pajama Birthday party started at 10 AM, perfect time for a Brunch Spread. What is it about Brunch that is so good? This ended up being an easy food spread to set up for.
Here is what we served at our Pancake and Pajama Birthday Party:
- pancakes
- fruit
- yogurt
- bacon
- sausage balls
- breakfast casserole
- homemade green chili
The girls and I had fun making our Rainbow Crispy Treats too. I love how the Fruit Loop Cereal Bars went perfectly with our Breakfast theme . CLICK HERE for the recipe!
Want to add waffles to your spread? My recipe for Sourdough Discard Waffles are a must try!
For drinks we had mini waters, milk and juice. And of course, can’t forget about the parents. We served Mimosas and Coffee for the adults.
Party Activities for the Kids
Evie is my crafty girl. We came up with the idea to let everyone color their own personalized pillowcases. This was a total hit and such a fun activity! I order these personalized pillow cases for the kids. They colored them with fabric markers. They really enjoyed decorating their own pillowcase, this was such a fun craft/party favor.

We also had time to make beaded friendship bracelets. Click HERE for the Beaded Bracelet Kit. Another really fun activity for a pancake and pajamas birthday party would be rolling out a giant color sheet or puzzle. The Donut themed color page and crossword puzzle would be perfect with the breakfast theme! The giant crossword is great for older girls and entertain my kids for HOURS!
Party Favors
In addition to their personalized pillow cases and friendship bracelets each kid got a pair of super cozy socks and some body wash and some other small trinkets I found in the Target Dollar Spot. I tied them all together with a handmade gift tag that read “I love you more than pancakes”. You can download and print these HERE
We had such a great time at Evie’s Pancakes and Pajamas. Really anytime you can stay in your PJ’s all day is a fun time!
