Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. The warm weather, the fireworks, the yummy food, and the patriotic music…it’s so fun. It is one of the simplest holidays to decorate for too. I wanted to share some of my favorite tips and ideas for throwing together a quick, easy and totally patriotic table setting for your Fourth of July this year.
You know me, I’m all about inspiring and adding WHIM without spending a lot of money. This is how I shopped my home and found some really inexpensive decor to put this adorable and festive Fourth of July Table together. Here are my tips.

Tips for Setting Up a Fourth of July Table
Tip #1: Use items you already have.
You can find anything that is red, white or blue. It doesn’t have to all be screaming the American flag. I shopped my home and found these blue salad plates. I absolutely loved how each plate was a little bit different. That makes it a little more modern which is totally up my alley. I set the blue plates on top of a plain white dinner place and they were the perfect blank canvas for me to start with.
Tip #2: Shop The Dollar Spot at Target.
Oh, the love for Target is real and one of my favorite spots to find festive treasures is the Dollar Spot. They always have the cutest things to choose from for each season and holiday.
I found a pack of wooden forks, spoons and knives. There for 5 sets in a pack and they had cute red stripes on them and came with a blue and white star pouch. I tied the utensils together and set them on the plate (I ended up using the blue and white star pouches somewhere else, click HERE to see). I also found in the Dollar Spot a pack of 2 4th of July themed handkerchiefs. These were SO cute and you got 2 for $1! They are light blue with images of the statue of liberty, American flags, the white house, fireworks, etc. All kinds of cute images that are patriotic but without being “in your face” red, white and blue.
I folded one and used it as a place mat for under one of the plate setting. I alternated between the cute handkerchief and plain white napkins for the place mats. This kept the table from looking too busy, but also gave it some interest and modern personality by having each setting be a little bit different.
Tips #3: Place Cards.
I LOVE using chalkboard tags for entertaining. Why? Because you can use them over and over and over again. These are a must-have staple in any entertainers home. You can use them on gifts or as place cards, the possibilities are really endless and you can get them on Amazon HERE. For a more informal table setting, don’t put names on them. I put Patriotic words like “USA”, “Liberty” and “Freedom” to add a Pop Of 4th of July WHIM at each seat.
Tip #4: Bring the Outdoors In.
It’s Fourth of July, use those American flags and put them on the table. I used a pretty white vase and filled it with red flowers and then stuck a few larger American flags in it. Bam…Instant Patriotic Center Piece. Nothing says 4th of July like lights and lanterns so I grabbed a small, outdoor lantern that I used in the center of the table as well. I took a few smaller American flags and stuck them inside the cute 4th of July glasses at each seat. If you need some American Flags click HERE.
Tip #5: Festive food.
This part is the most fun and so easy! For a Fourth of July Party all you need is food that is red or blue or star shaped. You can find all kinds of cute star shaped treats at Target or the Grocery Store. I used these cute Star Shaped cookies. But the fun doesn’t stop there. Think anything red or blue….berries, licorcie, M&M’s, etc. I used a bowl full of cherries as decor on the kitchen island and it was SO cute! If only I could get the kids to stop snacking on them.
